Blanka Ježková

Blanka Ježková founded the Christian publishing house Hisland in the Czech Republic.
After my tumultuous teenage years, I had an important and specific conversation with my father, and I accepted Jesus into my heart at the age of seventeen. My dad led me in a prayer of acceptance.
As a teenager, I was influenced by other young Christians around me. My grandfather, a preacher, also influenced me. One of my most powerful personal moments was the birth of our middle daughter, who was born with a heart disease. After her birth, I left my job and started a Christian children's publishing house in the Czech Republic.
I feel quite alone in my ministry. At the Forum, I expect to have refreshing and motivating fellowship, prayer time, and teaching. It has also been suggested that at the Forum, I may meet a potential donor. I long for connection.
I founded the non-profit organisation Hisland, and I write and publish books for children and teens. I am trying to build a community of creative people and educators to innovate children's ministry in the Czech Republic.
For several years now, I have been the leader of the children's Sunday School at our church. Before that, I was a youth leader, organising English summer camps.
My entire children's publishing ministry in the Czech Republic is dependent on donations. I cannot afford to pay for the Forum. I feel strongly that Christians should try to bring the message of the Gospel to children in a form that is acceptable, relevant, and understandable to them. Children today are overwhelmed with engaging but empty content. Everything is interactive and catchy. Are our children's programmes in churches as appealing? I would love for children to enter God's presence as enthusiastically as they enter Disneyland.
