Andy Oatridge, European Director for Langham Preaching, is also an elder in Hungary and preaches at several church plants outside of Budapest. His ministry focus is training youth pastors and youth leaders.
When did you trust Christ?
I was brought up in a loving Christian family, but as a teenager I did not want Jesus directing my life. I became a Christian at 19, primarily due to the influence of my older brother, whose life changed significantly after he became a Christian.
What have been the defining moments of your Christian walk?
My interest in Bible teaching and preaching began when I was saved at 19, after seeing my dad studying the Bible, preparing sermons, and preaching as I was growing up.
What do you hope to gain from participating?
Mentoring is so crucial to our Christian life. I hope that this Network will provide friendship and a safe space for mutual learning. I expect to be exposed to different teaching styles, to learn how to look more carefully at a text, and how to engage more effectively with people. I look forward to gaining wisdom and knowledge from more experienced Christians.
What is your ministry?
I am currently one of three elders, and the only preaching elder, at our new church plants just outside of Budapest. I have recently become the European Director of Preaching for Langham after being part of Langham leadership in Hungary for several years. I also lead a small charitable organisation, started over 20 years ago, to train youth leaders and youth pastors to teach the Bible effectively and regularly preach to youth in a church context.
