Luke writes more of the New Testament than any other New Testament writer, including Paul. Yet his theology is often an “orphan” in thinking through the Theology of the NT. Half of what we know of Jesus’ parables came from Luke. We would know far less of the early church if we did not have Acts. This session will engage with key Lukan theological themes, showing the scope and value of his contribution to the canon.
Session 1 - The Connection of Acts to Luke: We will review the connection of Acts to Luke as a two-volume work and show how Acts completes the Lucan account. Then we will consider the themes of God’s program, the Christ, Jesus’ work, and the Spirit. Passages in both Luke and Acts will be examined for how these themes build in the two volumes.
Session 2 - A Continued Look at Key Lucan Themes: We continue our look at key Lucan themes: The response to the offer of salvation, to the nations, discipleship in the church, ethics, the expansion of the promise, and a summary of how the themes connect.
