What is your ministry?
I am a small group leader. In my job, I am a former lawyer and now a legal expert.
What do you hope to gain from participating?
I have a lot of questions about being a leader and I hope I can discuss those questions with the others. I hope the others will share their experiences and I can learn from them. I would really like to learn from those who have been doing this for a very long time and have a clear vision. I would like to learn from others’ successes and failures. I think this is a good opportunity to figure things out and to not have to figure out on my own things that have already been tried and proven to work.
What is your leadership role or what were your past leadership roles?
I am the home group leader of a bunch of young professionals in their 30s. There are only two home groups in our church; the other group focuses on exegesis and a thorough understanding of a passage from the Bible. The home group that I lead is more of systematic theology. When I started leading the home group, we spent six months reading Wayne Grudem's “Systematic Theology” book. We then spent six months learning about the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Currently we are using a book by Szabados's book, who is a European Leadership Forum speaker.
Why should someone invest in your ministry?
I think I have challenges in all areas of teaching the Bible. I have a lot to learn. Because we are usually talking about a topic and a systematic theology rather than specific Bible passages, I need help in doing exegesis and in talking about Bible passages. I also need help in understanding what my role is and what the Holy Spirit’s role is. I always prepare for leading the small group, but how can I be spontaneous and sensitive to the guiding of the Holy Spirit?
