What is your ministry?
I am a cybersecurity practitioner and a missional entrepreneur. Together with my wife, we steward a ministry called Basileia Strategic Missions Support which focuses on running businesses to fund frontier missions. Rather than simply giving funds to missions, we invest these funds in companies (and just recently in stocks) and use the earnings for missions. Ninety percent of our focus is on missions among unreached people, and our anchor Scripture is Matthew 24:14: "And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in the whole world for a witness to all the nations, and then the end shall come." We labor to fund the fulfillment of that verse.
When did you trust Christ?
I had drifted from nominal Roman Catholicism to atheism. However, one morning in March 2007, I woke up feeling empty. I was still in university and had everything I needed, physically speaking, but there was this emptiness inside me that morning, and this voice kept telling me, "Femi, you've gone too far." I immediately knew I had to make my ways right with God. I found an evangelical pastor I knew, and he prayed with me, which was the beginning of my journey. God saved me and gave me such a hunger for Him that accelerated my growth tremendously. He has been faithful to keeping me since then.
What do you hope to gain from participating?
First, I know very well that my primary place in the Body of Christ is to develop sustainable funding systems that will shift frontier missions from donor-dependent to self-sustaining entities. However, I do not feel I have the strictest financial discipline standards to manage such responsibility. While others might celebrate my progress in this regard, I know I am far from God's demands, and I hope this mentoring session will bridge that gap. Secondly, I desire to raise many other entrepreneurial Christians to steward the financial resources and businesses God has given them with utmost faithfulness and to ignite their hearts with the advancement of the Gospel among unreached peoples. I believe participating in this mentoring session will further equip me to do this more effectively.
What is your leadership role or what were your past leadership roles?
I currently work as the Head of Research and Implementation in Basileia Innovative Solutions (an IT company I co-founded in 2010). My role is to research and implement growth strategies to keep the company at the cutting edge. I also manage partnership relationships with other organizations in the tech domain. At BSMS, however, my role is to seek investment opportunities for missions, work with these businesses/investments, network with missionaries and leaders of missions organizations to provide support for missionaries, and also to ignite these missions leaders to make strategic investments for the missionaries they support, to break free from donor-dependence, which isn't a sustainable model.
Why should someone invest in your ministry?
I desire to raise many other entrepreneurial Christians to steward the financial resources and businesses with utmost faithfulness and to ignite their hearts with the advancement of the Gospel among unreached peoples. I believe participating in this mentoring session will further equip me to do this more effectively.
