What is your ministry?

I am a professor of mission studies at the Seoul Theological University and serve the Korea Lausanne committee as general secretary. In addition, I serve the Lausanne Movement as TWG member and associate congress director of the 2024 Seoul Fourth Lausanne Congress. Furthermore, I serve Global Member Care Network (GMCN) as a board member and Korea Member Care Network (KMCN) as Director.

When did you trust Christ?

I was born in a Christian home; my father was a pastor. So I decided to follow Jesus at age 17. And I entered Seoul Theological University, majoring in theology.

What have been the defining moments of your Christian walk?

As a pastor's son, my father greatly impacted my life and the way of pastor and theologian I took. Also, Asbury Theological Seminary (ESJ School of World Mission and Evangelism) and the Lausanne Movement have given me many important lessons and insights on Christian mission and missiological perspectives.

What do you hope to gain from participating?

My expectation of the ELF is as follows: 1) Listening to the people of other cultures; 2) Learning from them on mission efforts amidst an extremely secularized context; 3) Having fellowship with them and networking for the mission of God; 4) Obtaining some insights and implications for the Fourth Lausanne Congress and Lausanne Movement; 5) Listening to the voice of God through a variety of different voices.

What is your leadership role or what were your past leadership roles?

Since 2004, I have served in multiple leadership capacities at the Seoul Theological University. For example – the dormitory Director, Dean of Students, Chaplain, Dean of Planning, Dean of General Affairs, Vice President, and Dean of Seminary. I also held leadership roles at the Lausanne Committee for World Evangelization, for instance, East Asia Deputy Director and Member of the Theology Working Group. Currently, I am the General Secretary of the Korea Lausanne Committee, Board Member, and Associate Congress Director of the 2024 Seoul Fourth Lausanne Congress, among others.

Why should someone invest in your ministry?

I am convinced that people living in a broken and divided world desire to listen to the excellent news of the kingdom of God. Therefore, my ministry at the Lausanne Movement, missionary member care and teaching/training mission, and missiology always focus on the essence of the gospel. Today, younger generations want to listen to the authentic holistic gospel and follow the way of Jesus.
