What is your ministry?
My ministry is very much in its infancy. I became aware of this need while volunteering with refugees and migrants. When the pandemic started, I was in Melilla, Spain, and all the volunteer programs were suspended. I found this quite frustrating, and while I was talking to a friend, I realized I could be the change that I wanted to see, so we started packaging and distributing food bags with our resources, and it was in this interaction that I discovered that was lacking was job opportunities for the refugees, as most NGOs and government agencies did not focus on this issue.
When did you trust Christ?
I was in Iraq, my parents were working there as missionaries, and I got to see God's power firsthand; once you see God's love and power all around you, I think it's impossible not to believe in him. As Simon Peter said in John 6, "Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. Also, we have come to believe and know that You are the Christ, the Son of the Living God." It is that sense of knowing there is nothing else out there that could give me what I am searching for.
What do you hope to gain from participating?
To gain the tools and skills I need to help me persuade the people I need to get on board to launch the project, get an idea of where to start and develop a plan of future steps that can guide me towards establishing the project as a whole. Also, I want to learn to set up credible milestones for short, medium, and long terms. And finally, to set up these reasonable milestones, I want to learn to identify the next big step to plan effectively and know what I should work towards.
What is your leadership role or what were your past leadership roles?
I am responsible for connecting the people and providing the legal and administrative know-how for the project. I am also in charge of getting the financial backing needed to launch the project and being a bridge linking the migrants and refugees and their needs and ideas to the entrepreneurial side of the business. Finally, I am also providing the cultural and social understanding of how the head of a migrant and refugee works. Based on my experience working in refugee and migrant assignments, both in the legal and social aspects, I will provide understanding and mediation between multiple cultures and values.
