What is your ministry?
I currently lead the Atelier Plus Association. We are a group of Christian artists. Together we organize artistic events, exhibitions, happenings, and creative camps. Our desire is to serve the Christian community through our art. At the same time, we want to form a community in which any Christian artist can serve and be served at the same time.
When did you trust Christ?
I grew up in a Christian family; my parents took me to church with them as a child. At the age of 21, I came to understand what Jesus did for me personally and that I must answer in a personal but also public way, confessing that Jesus is my Lord and Savior. I was baptized in 2008 in the Iris Cluj-N Baptist Church, of which I am a member today.
What have been the defining moments of your Christian walk?
As a child, I knew what it meant to be mocked for believing in Jesus. The fact that I was part of a family of practicing Christians who went to church brought with it the ridicule of the other children. At one point, I wanted to change my identity as a Christian child and be like the other classmates in my class. But I thank God that throughout my time in high school, my parents kept praying for me. In addition, I had Liviu Mocan (Christian Artist) as my mentor, in whose workshop I grew up and learned to see that God has a plan for everyone. I was pleased to be around Liviu, who was doing everything out of love for God. Liviu encouraged me to see that God loves art, that He Himself is the greatest artist, and that God uses Christian artists to carry the message of His gospel in visual language. I started sculpting and going to exhibitions and events with Liviu and other Christian artists.
What do you hope to gain from participating?
I believe that through participation in the Forum I will be, first of all, encouraged to go further and make art for God's sake. I will be encouraged to see that there are other Christian artists in the vicinity of our country who have the same beliefs and preoccupations as me. In addition, I hope to meet artists with whom our group can have joint projects. An important aspect is to learn from the experience of others who are participating in the Forum.
What is your leadership role or what were your past leadership roles?
In the past I led the charity work of our church, especially helping through construction. We organize teams of volunteers from local churches as well as from Northern Ireland, together with whom we build or renovate houses for poor families near our town. I was involved in this work for 8 years. In addition, my wife and I are premarital counselors at our church.
Why should someone invest in your ministry?
I believe that art has an important role in society. Through artistic language we can build bridges and draw attention to the good and bad things around us. Art has the power to speak in a universal language that can be understood by children and adults, Christians and non-Christians, rich and poor, and people of all nationalities. We at Atelier Plus want to learn how to use this language to its full potential, and we need your help in this process. I think that our participation in the forum will be a real support in our work.
