I am involved in counselling and mentorship ministry. I have recently baptised disciples who need mentors for at least one year. I meet with my disciples to learn their needs, help them grow in Christ, and provide information and direction for growth. For some of them, I give some counsel or participate with a counsellor in their counselling.
I started reading the Bible at the end of high school. At that time, I read the truth about sin and needing a Saviour for the first time. I made the decision four years after when I was a student in another town. I saw God's wonders and provision for my life, and He specifically spoke to me during a sermon. That was when I finally surrendered my life to Jesus.
My Christian walk was shaped by: my church, from which I receive good teaching; close Christ-loving friends; and leaders with good testimonies. I learned that I have to be surrounded by people who love Christ and from whom I have something to learn and to be intentional about it. My faith also grew in times of testing, when I had to learn to hear and obey the voice of God.
I think there will be personal growth which will also help my current and future disciples. I expect to get new insight into serving better and learn more about counselling.
I was one of the leaders in a "quad" (a group of four people: three believers with one unbeliever). I am in the mentoring ministry and preparing for counselling.
Mentoring and discipleship are essential for the expansion of God's kingdom. Also, counselling provides healing and restoration in the body of Christ, being what God intended it to be, and making it more effective in spreading the Gospel.
