I am currently involved in youth ministry as a youth leader. Our church is nearing about 1,000 members and we usually have about 300-400 young people attending youth services. Apart from this, one of my specific duties is to guide the people in our youth choir.
I am new to this. As an engineer, I do well with a curriculum and would like to learn how to prepare one. I would also like to see how to bring forth this vision to my pastor and elders, hoping they will see for themselves the true importance of discipleship.
I lead a small team of around 15 people with whom we serve smaller churches around Timisoara. I also manage the administration of our youth department. Throughout everything that I am involved in, I always try to help people see the importance of basic spiritual disciplines like prayer and Bible study. I do not want us to be merely doing activities and programs in the church. This has been something that I have been struggling with.
I want to make disciples, but a frustrating aspect of this is that I am part of a church that does not see the importance of discipleship. I have personally felt the lack of discipleship in our church, and I want to help change this mindset. The good news is that lately our pastor is showing signs that this might change, but it is too early to tell. There are a few people from our church who are struggling to help others in the church see how important discipleship making really is. One critical aspect is the curriculum. I have some ideas, but I have never prepared a discipleship curriculum before. I need help with this.
