Organisational Design Mentoring

A common phenomenon among corporations and non-profit organizations is the organizational structure that is set according to hierarchy or convenience. The structure then determines how decisions are made, services are delivered, etc. A characteristic of excellence is the organization that designs its structure to reflect rather than determine these things. The structure serves the essential need to align with the organization’s vision, mission and core values, and with the skill sets of key people.
  • Does your structure facilitate or inhibit decision-making? What steps may you take to align structure with decision process?
  • Does your structure reflect the organisation's vision, mission and core values? How should these be aligned?
  • Are the skills of your key people restricted or unleashed by your structure? What are some methods to determine skill sets? How should these influence structure?
  • Does your structure enhance or get in the way of serving your target “client?” What should your organizational structure look like if it is truly client-driven?
  • What are some steps I can take in my organization to address these needs?


Steve Giere has served in Christian ministries for more than thirty-five years in America and Europe.  He has served in the local church as a teacher, elder, chairman of the elder board, and in various serving roles.  He is in his tenth year teaching and leading a Bible Study Fellowship class of 500 men in Chicago, IL.  Key to Steve’s role is shepherding and mentoring young leaders.  He and his wife are residents of Chicago and are members of The Moody Church, a diverse urban church with seventy countries and fifty mother languages represented in its membership.  There he teaches and serves as an elder.  His professional work is engaged in finance and investment management.
