Detailed information about 2020 Forum Mentoring is not yet available but will be posted in the future. Please review the information from the 2019 Forum for a look at the types of mentoring that may be available at the 2020 Forum.

In recent years, church planting has been rightly emphasised across Europe, but more recently there has been the realisation that Europe will not hear the Gospel unless every church is vitally committed to making Christ known. But many churches, for a variety of reasons, need revitalisation and some urgently so. What are the signs which indicate that steps should be taken to reverse the decline? What obstacles need to be overcome to put a church on the path of revitalisation? What tools exist? Forum Church Revitalisation Mentoring provides the opportunity to start thinking through these issues.

CHURCH REVITALISATION MENTORS

David Brown has been involved in church planting in France since 1976 and has planted three churches (two in Nancy and one in the Paris suburbs). At present he is “replanting” a church in central Paris (Église Protestante Évangélique de Paris-Cardinet). For many years he was involved with GBU (Groupes Bibliques Universitaires), the French student movement affiliated with IFES, first as General Secretary, and then as chair of the board. He also chairs the Evangelism Commission of the French “National Council of Evangelicals” and teaches church planting and revitalization at the Geneva Bible Institute. He is married to Mary, and they have four adult children and a growing number of grandchildren.

Phil Walter is the church revitalisation coordinator for the FIEC (Fellowship of Independent Evangelical Churches) in the UK. The role is developing to encourage revitalisation in struggling churches by embedding a culture amongst the larger churches of help for the struggling. Phil’s career was in the food industry as M.D of a Danish UK Subsidiary before leaving to pastor a church in Northampton in 1996. During those twenty years he has been involved in a church plant as well as the revitalisation of two other churches. Phil is married to Ruth and they have two sons, both married and both Christians. Four grandchildren complete their family unit.
