Spiritual Warfare

Five hundred years before Christ, the great Chinese general Sun-tzu wrote these words in his volume on “The Art of War.” "One who knows the enemy and knows himself will not be endangered in a hundred engagements. One who does not know the enemy but knows himself will sometimes be victorious, sometimes meet with defeat.  One who knows neither the enemy nor himself will invariably be defeated in every engagement." Paul echoed these same sentiments about spiritual warfare when he wrote to the Corinthian church,  " order that Satan might not outwit us. For we are not unaware of his schemes." (2 Cor 2:11). Do you know your enemy? What are his schemes?

This Master Class addresses the following 5 topics.

1) Know Your Enemy
Unpacking Satan’s origins as well as his names will equip you to be prepared when he takes the offensive. How do you discern if an attack is from the world, the flesh or the devil?

2) Know the Enemy's Strategy
Spiritual warfare takes place on three levels, from temptation and harassment, to strongholds, and then to demonization. Understanding the characteristics of each level will help you to stay oriented in the battle and use the specific Biblical strategies that are designed for each zone of escalation.

3) Know the Enemy's Strongholds and Demonization
Christ’s first disciples were equipped to preach the good news, heal the sick, and cast out demons. Was that just for that age, or do we need similar authority today? Looking at relevant Scripture we will give you a basic understanding of how to recognize demonization and then engage with the power of Christ.

4) Taking Back Lost Ground – Demonization and Strongholds
In some cases, tenacious habits of sin give the enemy open doors into your soul, creating a place from which he can influence many other areas of your life.  How do these strongholds develop, and how can you spot them in your life and in the lives of others?

5) Taking Back Lost Ground – Temptation and Harassment
Though Jesus was perfect, he still experienced temptation and harassment from the enemy, which means that even the most spiritually healthy servants will need to resist Satan’s attacks. How does the armor of God function practically in the everyday life of God’s people?
